Merry Christmas!!

Kaden had a great time opening all of his present and everyone elses! He didn't understand that not all of the present were for him. Of course after he opened one of his presents with some cars in it, he didn't want to open any more for awhile because he was playing with the cars. So, he took a break and opened up the rest later on. Merry Christmas to everyone!!!

Making Christmas Cookies

Kaden and I got together with some of my best girlfriends and their kids, and we made Christmas cookies. The kids decorated the cookies while us women caught up on all of the latest gossip. The girls were way more into decorating the cookies then the boys were, but we did manage to convince the boys to decorate a few cookies. They even decorated a few more than they ate! : )

Big Shoes to Fill

Kaden and I made it safely to Indiana. Kaden has made himself right at home at Grandma and Papaw's house. Upon arrival he quickly commenced to getting out every single toy that they have here and trying on Papaw's boots. We've been finishing up our Christmas shopping this week and today we went to the mall to see Santa. After waiting an hour and a half, I spent $15 for a picture of Kaden crying on Santa's lap. I guess that when Kaden's 18 we'll look back at the picture and laugh. Today I wasn't laughing. After that long of a wait (because Santa didn't show up when he was supposed to) I wanted to cry too!!

Christmas Party

We went to the MFF School's Christmas Party over the weekend. Santa even came to visit and brought presents for all of the children. I tried to get Kaden to sit on his lap, but he wasn't having any part of that. He did participate at the craft table and played some of the games. We had a good time.

Princess Birthday Party

Kaden attended his friend, Hailey's, Princess Birthday Party over the weekend. But as you can see in the pictures, he was more excited that he got to drink out of a can of sprite and play with a Barbie spinning toy. He was oblivious that it was any one's birthday. He didn't even eat a piece of cake. Don't be misled by the pictures into thinking that he was the only boy at the party. There was a table full of boys, but Kaden chose to sit with the girls. . . Already a ladies' man.

Baths are for Babies

Kaden has decided that he really likes to take shower's with Daddy instead of taking a bath. He's a maniac in the shower though. I swear that he's going to drown!! He has no fear of the water!! I'd think that it'd be hard for Daddy to actually get in his showering, but somehow he manages to do it around Kaden playing. : )

Math Test

I got this in an email from my mother-in-law, Rhonda, a few weeks ago and I think that it's hilarious!! Being a teacher plus now that I'm living in a "border town," I can really appreciate it!

Math Test:

Last week I purchased a burger and fries at McDonalds for $3.58. The counter girl took my $4.00 and I pulled 8 cents from my pocket and gave it to her. She stood there, holding the nickel and 3 pennies. While looking at the screen on her register, I sensed her discomfort and tried to tell her to just give me two quarters, but she hailed the manager for help. While he tried to explain the transaction to her, she stood there and cried. Why do I tell you this? Because of the evolution in teaching math since the 1950s......

Happy Thanksgiving!

We decided to fry a turkey this year for Thanksgiving. We had to buy a new turkey fryer so Daddy put it together and this was the result when he lit the burner.

I guess that there were some plastic pieces that he forgot to take off and plastic and an open flame don't mix. That's what you see burning in the picture. I went ahead and found the phone number for the base fire department, just in case. We invited a guy that Daddy works with to join us for Thanksgiving. He lives in the barracks so he helped Daddy cook the turkey while Kaden played on his swing set, and I cooked the side dishes.

After the fire incident I was a little worried about the turkey, but in the end the turkey turned out great! After all these guys are supposed to be the "best of the best." Surely they can cook a turkey, right? : )

Kaden's Thanksgiving Luncheon

Kaden had a special Thanksgiving luncheon yesterday at his school. All of the parents were invited to join their children for a Thanksgiving feast. When I showed up to have lunch with Kaden, he cried because he thought that he was going home. On a normal day, after he has lunch, I pick him up to go home. So he was soooo confused. But after he realized that I was going to eat with him he was excited. And as you can see, we went and bought a new camera so I can get back to posting new pictures!! Yea!! I'm so stinkin' excited. Friday we're putting up our Christmas tree so you know I'll have pictures of that. I'm sure that you all will understand if all of the decorations are at the top half of the tree. : )

More Bad Luck!

As I'm sure that you noticed, this post doesn't have any pictures on it either. That's because last week while we were in San Diego, I "lost" our digital camera. I packed it in my suitcase, didn't ever use it in San Diego, but when we got home and unpacked, it was gone. So, all of the pictures from our Indiana trip including Halloween are gone. : ( I'm soooo bummed. Not to mention we now have to buy a new camera this weekend. I promise next week I'll post a bunch of new pictures of Kaden. We're having Thanksgiving here at our house which should be an experience since I've never done Thanksgiving dinner all by myself. Wish me luck! I'll need it!

Are there Seasons in the Desert?

Kaden and I flew back to Arizona yesterday. The weather is absolutely beautiful-85 and sunny. But somehow all of the pumpkins, fall wreaths, and other decor seem oddly out of place. Kaden went to daycare this morning in shorts and a t-shirt and it's November 3rd!! I can't get over it. Anyway, we made it back safely. I have a bunch of pictures to post, but when I went to plug in my digital camera into the computer this morning, I figured out that I left the cord at my parent's house. So, I promise they will be posted soon!! I know that this blog has been really uneventful for the last several weeks because I couldn't get it to work from my mom's computer. I know that I have a lot to make up for!! ; )

We're In Indiana

Kaden and I are in Indiana. I've tried posting some pictures, but I'm having some technical difficulties. Go figure. We're having a great time visiting family and enjoying the fall weather!

What Do I Do With These Things??

Yesterday I bought Kaden some sidewalk chalk at Wal-mart since they're getting rid of all of the summer items. He did manage to get some of the chalk onto the concrete, although not much. : )

Still Hot, but Not Sweltering!!

Well, we're finally able to spend some time outdoors during the day now. It's still near 100 during the day, but the humidity is less than 20% so it pretty nice. I guess this is what everyone means when they talk about the "dry" heat of AZ. During June, July, and August when it's 120 degrees out, there's NOTHING dry about the heat!!! Kaden loves to sit at the patio table and play with his cars. He thinks he's big stuff!!

GO COLTS!

Kaden was ready for the first regular Colts game of the season with his new outfit and his comfy chair. I tried all evening to get him to yell "Go Colts" and clap, but by the end of the night he was running away from me screaming. I guess he's not really into the cheerleading. : )

Arts & Crafts

Kaden brought home his first arts & crafts projects from daycare yesterday. Of course I had to proudly hang them on the fridge! Each week at daycare their lesson plan are centered around a theme. Even though it's sooooo obvious what these wonderful masterpieces are, just in case you can't tell, the one on the left is a pineapple (Hawaiian theme) and the one on the right is a black sheep (farm animals). This week's theme is the circus so I'm sure that we'll have another priceless work of art coming soon. . .

The Princess and the Frog

Once upon a time in a land far away, a beautiful, independent, self-assured princess happened upon a frog as she sat contemplating ecological issues on the shores of an unpolluted pond in a verdant meadow near her castle.

The frog hopped into the princess' lap and said: "Elegant Lady, I was once a handsome prince, until an evil witch cast a spell upon me. One kiss from you, however, and I will turn back into the dapper, young prince that I am and then, my sweet, we can marry and set up housekeeping in your castle with my mother, where you can prepare my meals, clean my clothes, bear my children, and forever feel grateful and happy doing so."

That night, as the princess dined sumptuously on lightly sauteed froglegs seasoned in a white wine and onion cream sauce, she chuckled and thought to herself:

"I don't freakin' think so."

Way Too Easy!!

While Papaw was here, he converted Kaden's crib into a toddler bed. He's now been in it for 5 nights and he hasn't gotten out of it a single time during the night. He crawls up in it when it's time to go to bed and he shows up in our bedroom around 6:30 or 7 in the morning which is his normal getting up time. During nap time, he crawls up in it and a couple hours later, he comes out of his room, done with his nap. Somehow I don't think the potty training will go this easily. : )

Papaw's Visit

My Dad and his friend French drove for three days to bring out my Tahoe and presents for Kaden from Aunt Suzanne. While they were here I put them to work putting together Kaden's new swing set. They worked on it in the early morning, but it was already 87 degrees at 7 a.m. so it was really hot for them. But they got it together and Kaden loves it.

I wanna be like Dad. . .

Kaden decided to try Daddy's O2 helmet on for size. Daddy thinks that Kaden's ready to fly in the wind tunnel. I, on the other hand, think that'll be a cold day in AZ. ; )

Yuma Proving Grounds' Housing

Here are some pictures of our house on base at Yuma Proving Grounds in Yuma, AZ. It's a brand new house, bigger than most of the houses "in town" and it's free. Fortunately it even has a back yard with built-in sprinklers so that we can have some grass. The front is what they call "desert landscaped" which basically means means rocks. Although, we do have a tree in the front yard and one in the back that we're attempting to grow. Trees and grass are hot commodities around these parts. I think that it probably has something to do with the cost of water out here. The average water bill for people in Yuma with a partial yard is about $300 a month. Did I mention that we don't even have to pay for utilities on base? It's a good thing since the military pays about as well as teachers get paid. : )

Daddy's Little Helper

Kaden decided to help Daddy work on the Mustang. We have to keep it up and running since it's our only car here. The company that was supposed to ship my Tahoe never came through. So, once again, my Dad's coming to the rescue and driving it out here. He should be here on Wed.!!

My future's so bright. . .

Trying to Keep Cool!

When it's still 109 degrees at 7:30 at night, you have to do whatever to try and stay cool!! But of course, it's a "dry" heat. Yeah, right!!

Kaden's Favorite Pastime

Well we're basically moved into our house here in Yuma. It's on base (post-to Army people) and it's about a 30 min. drive into town, so it's taking some getting used to. The base is very small, but it does have a few essentials: a commissary, bowling alley, swimming pool, and where we're at every night. . . the playground. : ) It was 112 degrees today so we didn't spend much time outside. Kaden started at the daycare yesterday. He goes for a couple of hours in the morning. He seems to like it, although as you can tell by the pictures, he takes after his daddy in aspect to his favorite indoor pastime. I prefer to take a nap. ; )
